Hastie Salih's Biography

IMG_0261.jpg

I wrote and edited my debut novel ‘Dahlia and Carys’ whilst working as a GP during the turbulent Covid years. It was published in February 2023, propelling underrepresented writing into mainstream fiction.

When I obtained my MRCGP certificate in London, I became a GP Trainer. My thirty years’ experience as a GP gave me an intimate glimpse into the complexities of human beings. I wanted to explore universal themes of love and power struggles through the marginal lens of a same-sex relationship and delve into unconventional and nonconforming ways of loving and living in an era of equality and diversity. My sincere wish would be to give readers a sense of hope and insight into how it’s possible to enjoy an authentic and fulfilled life.

I am a member of the RCGP, BMA, Exiled Writers Ink, Jericho Writers, and Paradise Press.

I was born in Slovakia to parents of Kurdish and Armenian heritage, spent my childhood in Wales and Germany and worked in in North-East London for twenty years. My daughter graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2022.
